The Team Commitment

Team McCarthy encompasses people from all walks of life.  Some of us are McCarthy or Buckley family members, some friends, co-workers, hockey parents, schoolmates and some of us have never met Billy or Heather but want to join the fight because it is a noble cause for tremendous people.  The love and support from this army of people still makes a difference. 

"We're going to get our miracle!"  Heather McCarthy set the tone for Team McCarthy in July 2007.  And every day since she and Billy have shown us the true meanings of commitment, strength, faith, hope and love.   In return, we have been able to show them just how much they mean to us.  Our original mission was to raise money for the family to assist with practical matters (home maintenance, meals, bill paying etc).  This allowed them to 1.) focus on Billy getting well and 2.) to spend as much time as family to maintain some level of normalcy for their children under the most abnormal circumstances.

Miraculously, Billy was blessed with two more years with his beautiful family before he lost his courageous battle.  The McCarthys NEVER took one day for granted.

In July 2007 we all committed to this family.  And on September 18, 2009 at Billy's funeral we re-committed during Peter's powerful eulogy.  Team McCarthy remains as determined as ever.  Our Mission has changed since 2007 but our commitment has not.  Heather, Liam, Tommy, Caitlyn, Bill Sr, Laurie, Peter, Kathleen and Stephen still need us as they continue to rebuild their lives without their beloved.
